Custody for Two -- Karen Rose Smith -- Book Review

Picked up a Mills and Boon after a long long long time...... :)..... but it turned out to be a decent read.

The story is about two characters........ Dylan Malloy and Shaye Bartholomew.

Dylan is a photographer who loves to travel into exotic places like the jungles of Africa to photograph wild animals....
One day he gets a message that his only family... his sister and brother in law are killed in an accident. The only family he has now is his prematurely born nephew, Timmy. The situation is complicated by his sister's will, which gives custody of Timmy to her friend, Shaye. Dylan's wish to be a part of his nephews life makes it very difficult for Shaye. She keeps worrying that Dylan might take Timmy away from her by filing for custody. So now , they have to find a way to trust each other but the bigger problem was that they needed to deal with their budding attraction.

Karen Rose Smith's way of writing is pleasant and is simple and fun to read. Overall, a decent read....doesnt need too much attention so a good travel read i guess....... :)

A Summer Fling by Milly Johnson -- A Review

Just finished reading " A summer fling" by Milly Johnson.

When Christie takes overs as the head of the Bakery department she changes not just the way the department works but also brings about a difference in the people working in the department.

When dynamic, power-dressing Christie blows in like a warm wind to take over their department, five very different women find themselves thrown together at work. But none of them could have predicted the fierce bond of friendship that her leadership would inspire...

Anna, 39, is reeling from the loss of her fiance, who ran off with a much younger woman. Her pride in tatters, these days Anna finds it difficult to leave the house. Her impending 40th birthday also makes her think as if she is turning 60.....So when a handsome, mysterious stranger takes an interest in her, she's not sure whether she can learn to trust again?

Then there's Grace, in her fifties, trapped in a loveless marriage with a man she married because, unable to have children of her own, she fell in love with his motherless brood. Now, that the children have all moved out and have lives of their own Grace has nothing to look forward to other than the family lunch on Sundays and her Job at the bakery. Will she move on ever from this life to have the faith and courage to start a new life.

Dawn, orphaned as a child, engaged to love-rat Calum, is more interested in the security that comes with his tight-knit, boisterous family? As time passes by she realises that she is just stuck in this relationship.......When a sexy, footloose rock singer catches her eye, will Dawn have the courage to follow her heart?

At 28, Raychel is the youngest member of their little gang. And with a loving husband, Ben, and a cosy little nest for two, she would seem to be the happiest. But like that say every one has their secrets.....and her secrets made her unwilling to open up to any one.....

Chirsty, also has some secrets of her own...... she still mourns her husbands death.... Will she be able to move on?

When Christie walks in as their new boss, the girls realize that they all have been going through some tough phases in life and realize that as long as they have each other for support they can overcome these hurdles. No
ne of them though, quite realized how much they needed the sense of fun, laughter, and loyalty that abounds when five women become friends. It's one for all, and all for one!

Overall, it was a good read. The book has some fun moments which make you laugh, some sad moments and some which make you think. Milly johnson's way of writing is fantastic though , she captures the emotions just right but in some parts you do think that she could have done a little more justice with the words.

Happy Reading. !!!!!

The Bride Quartet-Nora Roberts-Review

I recently finished reading the Bride Quatret by Nora Roberts. It basically is a story of 4 friends .... Mac , Emma , Laurel and Parker. They are 4 books in this series.
1. Visions in White. ( Mac's story)
2. Bed of Roses ( Emma's story)
3. Savor the moment ( Laurel's story) and
4. Happy ever after ( Parker's story)

The best part of these books is that they are happy books..... you feel happy at the end of the book and are waiting to read the others. Nora Roberts had this innate capability to keep the reader hooked on, not by making the books overtly dramatic but just by keeping them simple and sweet.

Mac , Emma , Laurel and Parker are child hood friends who loved to play wedding day. Little did they know that this game would one day give them a business idea. As they grow older they start a venture where in they plan weddings. Mac is photographer , Emma is the florist , Laurel bakes the most amazing wedding cakes and Parker puts all of this together and schedules and plans the entire wedding.

The best part of the book that i personally like is the way these friends are shown to trust each other blindly. All of us in our lives need at least one friend whom we can count on, who would be there with us even if we were wrong. This aspect comes out really well in the books.

So my verdict........ read the books they are amazing...... they are simple and sweet and will leave you with a really happy feeling in the end...... :D

Thanks,
DJL

P.S. One of my friends asked me to start reviewing the books i read ( since i read so many ..:D) and so this post. Will write more when i can.

Mera Bharat Mahaan ....

This is a very common term repeated over and over again in India. You see many people say it on TV and in rallies when our country celebrates its "Independence day" or "Republic day". The main question is Do we really mean it ?

When you are in a movie theater and while coming out at the end of the movie, you see many people just throwing things on the floor. The bad part is no one thinks of picking things they dropped on the floor. The worse part is that people trample on the food and walk away. Next time you do this please remember the people who dont get food to eat.

When you see people walking on the road, they just eat something and throw the wrapper on the street. Do they think that they are do this in front of the kids who will eventually do the same thing.

Unfortunately, our politicians are no different. They just keep throwing things around ( also their weight around) and this gives people the idea that if they do it why cant us.
I know what you are thinking... :)... that just me doing things is not going to be enough, but remember the famous saying "Boond boond se hi sagar banta hai".

Just imagine if some one comes into your house and throws things on the floor, will you just let them do that... even if you do the moment they leave you clean it up. Why can we think of doing the same thing when we are on the street. When you are in the car you usually carry a plastic bag and collect the trash so as to make sure that your car doesn't get dirty. Why cant we pick up after us, even when we are on the road. Why is it that we cannot take the responsibility of keeping our own country clean. People keep saying that nothing can be done in India, but why cant we try.
If our freedom fighters would have said "nothing can be done" we never would have been an independent country. When an Indian is in the US, they make sure never to litter there why is it that when the same person comes into India he forgets these things.

The bottom line is that " The future of our country is in our hands" . If we don't become responsible about our actions they we cannot expect the country by itself to change. When every citizen of India becomes responsible towards her she will truly become "mahaan".

Like Amitabh Bachchan said in one of the IIFA awards
If not now When ?
If not you Who ?

India is our country lets make it a great country.
I know that i cannot change everyone in India, but my only hope is that if i can change even one persons thinking i will think that i have achieved something in life.
